May 2004

The TCE/Wells Coyote continues to evolve and get better. For the 2004 season and this years Pikes Peak Hill Climb the car will be fitted with an all new 3.2L high compression engine with some other ticks designed especially for the high altitude characteristics of this type of racing. While not run on the engine dyno, the motor is expected to boost the current output from about 300chp to a target 375. With some more weight savings on the car and some strategic placement of other parts the final product should prove very potent making up for lost straight line speed of the 3.0L. Pikes Peak this year has ‘reinstated’ the Super Sprint or Mini Sprint class for all 210ci and smaller normally aspirated motors. Finally, this car will be back where it was intended to run!

Locally, here in Phoenix, the market in open wheel racing is rather quiet at this time. There a number of cars on the market for sale and rent. Participation is lacking for unknown reasons. A rebounding economy and expanding population base here should push the level of participation back up soon we hope! If you have any interest in open wheel racing, want to get a license with the SCCA or other club please give us a call.
