TCE uses offers a number of different rotor sizes, both diameter and width to address both fit and intended use. Below is a brief description of each of these rotors. Not only do diameters vary by application but so can the rotors width. Most Street Sport kits use the narrowest rotor option where the Road Race kits use the wider rotor for better heat management. However wider rotors take up valuable wheel space.

SOLID ROTOR: a flat disc with no center venting properties in it. Used in a couple of rear kit applications this part has is intended to replace smaller diameter stock parts and usually retains the factory caliper with the parking brake.
STRAIGHT VANE: A vented rotor with universal R/L applications. It has webs in the vent area which are straight. These are th least expensive of the Vented rotor designs and are often used on rear kit applications where heat is not such an issue. Most factory street rotors are straight vane as well.

DIRECTIONAL VANE: This rotor has curved casting webs in it for improved air flow. This is the most common rotor used on all TCE kits for both street and racing applications.
A note on rotor Width: The increase in a rotor width has no impact on the brake torque of a kit, it should be considered a marker to which a kit can be improved upon for heat management. The wider rotor often has more mass, thicker ‘walls’ and more venting area than a comparable narrow version for the same application. TCE has put much effort into fitting its brake kits behind stock wheels. In this instance the narrower rotor may be the ONLY option without compromising spoke clearance. When a more brake-friendly wheel is fit then the rotor width can be expanded to take advantage of its thermal properties. In some instances the build of the kit may allow for future expansion of these rotor options, depending upon the vehicle and caliper used from the start.
TCE offers rotors from 11.75" to ones of 16.0" in diameter and can accommodate width requests of up to 1.375" on some kits. When wider rotors are used however, caliper choices may become more limited. Not all diameters or widths are available on all vehicles. For special needs or requests please call
Which rotors are for me? If more than one rotor option is available in a specific kit it is due to the variety of applications requested by owners or the specifics of fit behind the factory wheel and suspension. Finding the right rotor for your needs can be time consuming but well worth it in the end.
For those who do only street driving and the occasional track day, the narrow rotor will serve your needs very well. The use of a narrow rotor and its lack of thermal capacity will likely become known only when used on the track where sustained high heat saturates the rotor thus running hotter than desired. If you don’t do serious track driving or attend tracks days only once or twice a year, the value of alternate rotors may not be that great. Larger rotors weigh more as well so drag racers may find this added weight a trade for vehicle performance. For those who drive harder on canyon roads, attend SOLO events or participate often in open track events the fit a Wide rotor is a must. These kits use rotors with wider center vents and thicker walls for a substantial increase in thermal capacity. These rotors often weigh 4-5 pounds more per rotor than their respective narrow counter part. Wide rotor kits may also compromise wheel spoke clearance so please verify fit requirements.
As a general rule you cannot go wrong with the use of more rotor if there is ample room for it, but often the additional mass can be more than is really needed. For this reason offer you a wide selection of options rather than selling a one-size-fits-all kit.
Replacement rotor costs also vary by diameter and width. Please check the Spares and Replacement Parts page for more specific information. Special applications can be built to your order.
