MINI Rear Kit a big WIN-WIN in Vegas!
TCE brought both vehicle mounted rear Wilwood parking brake calipers to AMVIV but also hands on parts for everyone to inspect. The overall reaction? "Wow, those are cool!" Yes my friend...they are. And in red they are even cooler! We have begun shipping out orders for this new product and have them headed locally as well as Singapore and South Africa already. Talk about your world introduction!

Where's Todd? MINI Rear Kit a 'done deal'!
TCE is happy to report (and show to your left) that efforts on the rear parking brake kit for the MINI is not only complete but up and in service! This kit took a bit longer than was hoped but the final product is clean, simple and attractive. The installation is quite straightforward, there's a minor bit of clearance grinding required to clear the relocated parking brake cables however the stock cables are used so there's no additional costs involved. Complete details and final pricing will be posted on the MINI page in the next day or two.

Despite my absense work is progressing on couple of new items. The Lincoln LS kit is up and running, as well as the new Magnum/Charger/300C monster 16" front kit! For the MINI folks, I expect to launch the new rear caliper kit in Las Vegas the end of March. A long time coming but it should be worth the wait. Whlie I am out my helper Tara is handling incoming and outgoing shipping needs to the best of her ability. She does not assemble complete kit but can get pads, rotors and smaller items handled. Personally I will be in and out agian through the end of February and into March. As always you can reach me on the phone or by email nearly any time.

This kit will be based on the new Wilwood W6 caliper and finally allow TCE to offer you a larger rotor kit that hopefully will fit stock wheels. Adding to the other two this brings the Lightning menu to three front kits: 3.1" , 14.0" , and 16" all at varying price levels. Also there's renewed interest in our new four pot 13" rear kit for those who can give up their parking brake. As the new parking brake caliper from the MINI kit above works its way in we may look at incorporating that to this rear kit also....

NEWS:
As we move into the final quarter of 2006 I want to thank both customers and suppliers for a prosperous year thus far. Brake kit sales have been strong thanks in part to the newer kits as well as repeat customers who rely on TCE for affordable spares and service.

The new SUBARU kits have been a hit with both the factory Wilwood and enhanced TCE kits proving to be worthy products for their market. Our own rear kit with its true bolt on fit is also reaching new standards for rear kit performance. Thanks to those who took advantage of our combo purchase promotion!

The MINI market has softened a bit of late. Wilwood and TCE have proven once again that they can provide cost effective kits with stellar performance both on the track and on the street. With more options than ever now on the market buyers are more aware of their choices and are spending more time researching those options. I believe that when done with their reviews they will find TCE offers them exceptional value and full service helping them with their purchase. More than a "laptop retailer" TCE is here to be certain you get the right parts for the application.

Lightning rear kits- round two; TCE is in the process of finalizing a second rear brake kit for the Lightning/Harley truck. A far less complicated (and costly) rear kit is in the works and will be released soon. This kit is aimed at the track guys who want performance braking out back and are willing to give up the parking brake. This kit will use 13 x 1.10" rotors, Forged Superlite calipers and share the same pads as the front kits making it light, effective, and functional. Stay tuned for more info on the Lightning pages soon.

Lincoln LS- this kit has been stewing for a bit and will be in complete form in short order. We've combined the very nice radial mount BSL6r with some heavy duty 14" GT rotors and worked up some radial brackets for this kit. I hope to have some feedback and pictures soon as well as look to a larger matching rear rotor kit to compliment the front. If you have a Lincoln LS and would like to be considered for a pre production discount please give TCE a call.

TCE is off to the Monterey Historics shortly to do some promo on the MINI. Or not...actually I am bowing out and turning over the promo to Scott from Central Coast Coopers! Scott's a great guy and dealer for all TCE product on the West. Between him and the good guys at M7 Tuning who are fittting a front and rear TCE kit to their show MINI, I'm confident that the product is in good hands! Thanks Scott , and thanks Peter!

In the works are a front 14" kit for the Lincoln LS and matching rear rotor upgrade. If you know of an LS owner who is bored with the stock set up and need a truly affordable BBK this might be just what they are after.

New Kits!
I'm happy to report that TCE has finally gotten both the Subaru REAR and Lightning/Harley truck REAR kits pretty well wrapped up!

The new Lightning kit should answer the call for big brakes with its massive 15" rotors and enough good looks to hold off all comers. And function is not lost either as we retain 100% of the stock parking brake. Installation is not for the Saturday afternoon driveway however so please consult qualified folks to help with this one.

Pics were posted yesterday of the new Subaru rear LBK (that's Little Brake Kit) for those who wanted some matching rears to go with the popular Wilwood front LBK. This kit is othe only known rear brake kit offering a complete bolt on design, requirimg NO modifications to the stock parts. A radial mount PowerLite caliper fit to the larger, vented 11.75" rotor will prove more than ample for any use and fit the Rally guys need for 15" wheels! Like the truck kit this one keeps the stock parking brake for the day to day needs of the street user.

April showers bring....well, higher prices. Due to ever rising cost of both materials and shipping TCE has been forced to bump prices on nearly all kits. With energy costs effecting the production of aluminum (it takes a vast amount of electricity) as well as fuel costs effecting inbound freight there was no choice. TCE remains commited to being the most cost effective option for your BBK needs despite these increases.

I firmly believe that you will see price increases throughout the industry from other suppliers as well. Some manufactures will continue to post 'retail' prices at the current level but cut margins to their dealer network thus cutting all those great bargains some of the laptop vendors have been posting. If vendors are charged more- you'll pay more as well unless the vendor is going to absorb the added cost. There's going to be lot of confusion and unhappy customers in the next few months on "who has the best price on brand X brake kits?". You read it hear first.

One major player in the industry (who was on a six week or more back order on many kits I'm told) has recently taken a majority of its rotor business to China. China? Yes, the country that has declared it WILL be the worlds supplier to the automotive industry in due time. That time is coming sooner than you may think. My best estimate is that rotor costs in China are probably 40% the cost of our American manufacture rotors. Even with shipping container costs and import fees the final price proves very attractive. Delays may be the one issue yet to be resolved. Will major companies contract for calipers soon as well? It's only a matter of time.

TCE is happy to report that we are now offering front and rear kits for the all new 4G Eclipse! Full blown 13" front kits! And the popular 13" rear kit with stock parking brake! Details on the Eclipse page.

NEW!!
TCE has finalized work on its now Subaru WRX kits. We are offering both the all new Wilwood factory kit as well as our own racing version for competition use. And they are both sized for 15 and 16" wheels! Details on the WRX page.

MINI, Impala, and Lightning remain strong while others such as Focus and SHO are begining to show their age. There are some special offers currently on both of these kits too!

We are going to pull the plug on the standard 12.2" SHOstopper kit after 12 years of production. TCE will continue to list the SHO in the product line however it will be available only in the wider 1.10" rotor size and NOT fit the stock slicer wheel. Each kit will be built to order and when inventory of steering knuckles is depleted cores will be sourced for new builds. Please allow about 2-3 weeks for build time when this happens. *Currently there are two SHOstopper kits available in the standard design at a discounted price.

On the Focus front TCE will not longer be offering the modified steering knuckle kit for the ZX3. Only the SVT kit will remain. This due to the cost and compexity of work to the knuckle and the fact that one can now buy from Ford the later SVT knuckle for a very reasonable cost. There's no reason to offer both kits when the SVT kit will fit and can actually cost the consumer less to purchase. *As of 11-8 there are two Focus kits available for a substantial discount!

Customers give a shout out for real world results!
Thanks to those of you who have taken the time to write about their results with TCE brake kits, here are some comments.

LIGHTNING: "Todd, I put the Wilwood Poly B's to the test this weekend in my '03 Lightning. You were dead on. Never had a single bit of brake fade or any other problems all day. I ran four 30 minute sessions, aggressively, and the brakes just kept doing the job. Meanwhile, the other Lightning there went through 2 sets of pads and actually set the second set on fire. Several Mustangs had to quit early as well. The folks that laughed at me before the first session were asking me how I kept going after the 4th session."

MINI: "I also back the TCE Wilwood kits and believe that they are truly the very best bang for the buck in BBKs. I use the 13" x .81" with aftermarket wheels. No need to go with the 1+" thick rotors unless you are truly professionally racing HARD. TCE kits are among the lightest out there if not THE lightest. Again a good reason to stick with the .81". Todd is also very available when you need him."
